The short version: We collect what we need to help you build your EB-1A profile, nothing more. We don't sell your data. We don't share your data with anyone except the immigration attorney you ask us to introduce you to, and only with your consent. You can request deletion at any time.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how Barmeter Technologies LLC, operating as EB1A Path ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and discloses personal data when you use our website, software portal, and consulting services (the "Service").
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), and authentication metadata.
- Profile data: phone number, country of birth, current visa status, current location, field of expertise, job title, employer, years of experience, professional profile URLs (LinkedIn, Google Scholar, GitHub, personal site), and resume file.
- Assessment data: answers to the 10 EB-1A criteria questions, structured criterion entries, achievements, evidence files, recommendation letter drafts.
- Contact form data: if you fill out our contact questionnaire without creating an account, we collect the information you provide.
- Payment data: we use Stripe to process payments; we do not store full card numbers. Stripe collects payment data subject to its own privacy practices.
- Communications: emails, WhatsApp messages, and other communications you send to us.
Information collected automatically
- Log data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps).
- Cookies and similar technologies used to keep you signed in and remember preferences.
- Usage analytics on how the Service is used in aggregate.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Service.
- To generate your AI-powered scores, roadmaps, and content drafts (using Anthropic Claude with your data sent to the AI provider for processing in compliance with their data-handling commitments).
- To communicate with you about your account, payments, and product updates.
- To send transactional emails (welcome, payment confirmation, weekly snapshots, password reset, etc.).
- To send WhatsApp messages only if you have opted in.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our Terms.
- To comply with legal obligations.
- For internal analytics to understand product performance.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as described below:
- Service providers: we use Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), Anthropic (AI processing), Resend (email), and Twilio (WhatsApp). These providers process data on our behalf under data-processing agreements.
- Vetted immigration attorneys: if you ask us to introduce you to an attorney, we share only the information necessary to facilitate that introduction, and only with your explicit consent. The attorney-client relationship is solely between you and the attorney.
- Legal compliance: we may disclose data if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or those of others.
- Business transfers: if Barmeter Technologies LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred subject to this Privacy Policy.
5. Data retention
We retain account and profile data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account at any time by emailing us; we will delete or anonymize personal data within 30 days, subject to legitimate retention obligations.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccuracies; request deletion; restrict or object to processing; data portability; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. 7. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest where supported, role-based access controls, row-level security on databases, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Service is intended for users 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18.
9. International users
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the Service you consent to this transfer.
10. Cookies
We use cookies for authentication (keeping you signed in), security, and preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You may disable cookies in your browser; some features of the Service may not work properly without them.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-portal notice. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
